Eagles Pick Up Road Win

EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest headed home with a win at the end of a four-game road swing, beating Corban, 72-62, on Saturday.

"That was the best all-around game that we have played this year," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "So proud of everyone for their effort and their ability to focus for the whole game. Great win!"

Corban took a 62-61 lead with 6:43 remaining in the game, but the Eagles stood their ground defensively and force three turnovers and a pair of missed field goals on the next five Corban possessions. The Warriors didn't score another point.

That gave the offense time to find itself and Kyrin Baklund knocked down a three-pointer with 3:27 to go for a 64-62 lead. Morgan Marshall added a pair of jump shots and Katie Fleming hit two free throws to build the lead to 70-62 with 46 seconds to go. The Eagles finished on an 11-0 run to get the win.

Maya DuChesne led the Eagles with 17 points, six assists and three steals. Fleming ended with a solid night with 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Grace Harder and Esther Pappuleas had 10 points each.

The Eagles play the next three games at home, starting with a Friday night contest against Southern Oregon.
