NU Extends Winning Streak: 9-1

KIRKLAND, WA - The Northwest University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three, complimented by todays 9-1 victory over Multnomah.

The Eagles played a brilliant match this afternoon, totaling nine goals, six assists, and 21 shots on goal. The 2023 team is now tied for second place in the NU record book for goals in a game. Gracie VanAssche is the newest NU record holder for assists in a single game at four.

Grace Burke led with two goals for the Eagles, scoring in the 5th and and 40th minute. Her second goal was assisted by Gracie VanAssche.

Elizabeth Moretti scored in the 13th minute to put the Eagles up 2-0, assisted by VanAssche. Goal number three for NU came from Colette Liston at 25 minutes in, who connected with a pass from McKenna Ramoso.

Ana Andrade found the back of the net seconds before the first half horn, unassisted.

At 53 minutes of play, Rachel Russell scored off a pass from Gracie VanAssche, followed by VanAssche's own goal, five minutes later. 

The final two goals of the gamer were scored by Liv Lagerquist in the 60th minute, unassisted, and by Donnya Kvinge in the 70th minute, assisted by VanAssche.

Head Coach April VanAssche says, "My team showed up today with a mission, and it was fun to watch them find success. They worked hard on and off the ball to create scoring chances. They took advantage of our momentum and executed well on goals. This was a good team win today!"

The women's next match and first road weekend begins on October 6 against Corban University.
