Eagles Escape Bear's Claws: 2-1

BILLINGS, MT - The Northwest University women's soccer team escaped with a well deserved 2-1 victory over Rocky Mountain College today.

The Eagles struggled to find shots, but found the back of the net at times when production was needed.

A Rocky Mountain foul put Monste Youngsman at the line for a penalty kick in the 40th minute of play. Youngsman delivered and put the Eagles up 1-0 going into the second half.

The Bears matched the Eagles in the 61st minute with an unassisted goal.

Gracie VanAssche bulleted a free kick into the top right side of the goal with just 14 minutes of play remaining, giving the Eagles the 2-1 lead.

Ella Wilson gets the win in goal with four saves.

"The team battled to get this win today," says Head Coach April VanAssche. "I'm very proud of the grit and dedication so many different players showed today. This was a good win for us. We are looking forward to next weekend's games and to keep going in the right direction."

The Eagles head home with an undefeated weekend, and will continue conference play next weekend at home, first against the University of Providence on October, 20.
