Marschall's Two Assists Conclude Regular-Season with a Win: 3-1

ASHLAND, OR - The Northwest University women's soccer upperclassmen led the team to a 3-1 win over the Raiders of Southern Oregon this afternoon in the final regular-season match of the year. The Eagles will head into the post-season with a 7-3-2 conference record under their belt.

A crossed ball from Halley Marschall connected with Anna Lau for the first goal of the game, putting the Eagles ahead 1-0 in the 37th minute.

The Raider responded in the second half with a goal of their own in the 53rd minute of play.

Marschall's free kick from deep connected with Donnya Kvinge in the 65th minute to give the Eagles the lead once again, 2-1.

A corner kick taken by Gracie VanAssche bounced around in the box before it was kicked into the back of the net by Grace Burke in the 83rd minute, extending the Eagles lead 3-1.

RiaJo Schwartz received the win in goal with two saves.

Head Coach April VanAssche says, "I am so excited for this team today! They played all out for 90 minutes. This was a brilliant team win as they really came together to compete on both sides of the ball. We played a strong, disciplined defense and played a dynamic attack with players sacrificing to create scoring opportunities. This is the momentum we need as we head into the CCC tournament! I'm proud of this team and excited for this next stage with playoffs!"

Playoffs kick off next week as they Eagles sit in fifth place for the regular-season. One league game is left to be played between Bushnell and Southern Oregon on November 2, which will have an impact on seeding as well as game times.
