KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles closed out the Northwest Classic against another fierce opponent. Despite a good start and tight game, The Master's University pulled ahead and did not look back.
The first quarter proved a back and forth match as the Eagles and the Mustangs traded baskets. Northwest struggled to keep up in the second quarter, though.
The Eagles regrouped during halftime and came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Mustangs, 23-18. Kyrin Baklund led the Eagles with 18 points and four steals, while Maya DuChesne had 10 rebounds. The Eagles kept pressing, cutting the Mustangs' lead to eight, but the Mustangs kept making key shots that helped them pull away and widen their lead.
"It was another great learning experience today," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "We saw great opportunities and are a better basketball team than we were two weeks ago. We're excited to get back on the practice court and keep getting better."
Northwest hosts the Cascade Challenge and will face Whitman College at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 and Jessup University at 5 p.m. on Nov 18.
