KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles faced the ranked Bears from Rocky Mountain College in their home opener. Despite a late push in the fourth quarter, Northwest fell short in their 64-78 loss.

Rocky Mountain jumped out to a quick lead and did not look back. The Eagles quickly fell behind and found themselves down by 13 at the end of the first quarter.Â

Coming out of halftime, the Eagles knew they had some ground to make up.
Maya DuChesne led the charge for Northwest with 17 points, while
Kyrin Baklund and
Esther Pappuleas assisted with 13 and 11 points each.Â

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles made their surge and held Rocky to a 23 field goal percentage, making only three out of their 13 attempts. Ultimately, the Bears held on and pulled away to end the game.

"Another quality opponent and another great learning experience for the Lady Eagles," said Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "We continue to get better, and we saw some strong individual performances tonight. We will be going against another great team tomorrow, and we know that the learning will continue!"

The Eagles close out the Northwest Classic against The Master's at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
