TACOMA, WA - Northwest traveled south to Tacoma to face the PLU Lutes on a Monday-night matchup. The Eagles kept the Lutes within reach but ultimately came up short, 75-62.
Â
In the Eagles' first true test of the season, they faced a strong offense that beat a fellow CCC team, The Evergreen State College, the week prior. Northwest stuck with the Lutes to start the game, but over the course of the first half, the Lutes began to pull away.Â
Â
O'Shae Barquet led the Eagles with 15 points, followed closely by Lewis Pope and Christian Zamora with 12 points each. Manuel Zapater took home six rebounds.Â
Â
"We struggled in multiple phases of the game tonight. We really struggled to shoot the ball including probably 10 missed layins, but our guys fought and stuck together. Congrats to PLU as they outplayed us for sure. The character of this group will show up in how we bounce back from the disappointment, I am confident of that."
Â
The Eagles head to Idaho to face tough competition with Idaho State on Thursday followed by the Domino's Classic, where they will face the University of Antelope Valley on Friday and Vanguard University on Saturday.
