KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles closed out pre-season with a 66-67 loss to Jessup University that came down right to the end.
Northwest came out strong and was able to hold the lead for the majority of the first half, but the Warriors always kept the Eagles within striking distance. In the third quarter, Jessup found a little momentum and took the lead.
The fourth quarter proved a battle on both sides. While the Eagles held a seven-point lead with 5:11 left in the game, the Warriors crept back in and ultimately won in the last minute.
"We continue to learn and improve!" said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "I felt that we played a solid game from start to finish. We had a couple of bad breaks towards the end, but I do believe we have taken steps forward to be ready for conference play. Thanks to everyone who attended the Classics over the last two weekends!"
Kyrin Baklund led the Eagles with 17 points, and Grace Harder tallied 12. Alli VanKooten recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Eagles begin conference play on Thursday, November 30 at 5 p.m. at Lewis-Clark State College.
