COLLEGE PLACE, WA - The Eagles close out their first Cascade Conference road trip of the year with a tough 55-64 loss to Walla Walla University.
Northwest struggled to gain any momentum while the Wolves scored the first 12 points of the game. Through the first half, Walla Walla seemed to only expand on its lead, which left NU down by 20 going into halftime.
The Eagles started to find the basket in the fourth quarter and cut the lead down to seven, but Northwest ran out of time to complete a comeback.
Kyrin Baklund led the Eagles with 16 points, while
Kylie Lunday and
Katie Fleming each tallied 12.
Grace Harder had nine rebounds.
"Definitely an interesting weekend for us," said Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Some really good things and some very frustrating things, but that's what the learning process is all about. We need to continue to learn how to adapt and focus for a full 40 minutes of a game. This team continues to support each other, which is something they do very well."
Northwest will host The Evergreen State College next Friday, December 8, at 5:30 p.m.
