KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles fought to the end as they took down The Evergreen State College Geoducks, 67-62.
Northwest started hot, shooting 52.9 percent in the first quarter, which helped the team jump out to a ten-point lead. While the Geoducks pressed, the Eagles were able to respond and go into the half with a twelve-point lead.Â
As the Eagles started the third quarter strong, buckets started falling for Evergreen who slowly crept back in to the game. Going into the last ten minutes of play, Northwest led by four.Â
The Geoducks kept the Eagles within striking distance as they came within one point with one minute left.
Grace Harder made a key jumper to give the Eagles a three-point lead, then
Kyrin Baklund secured the win with two free throws.Â
"We had a great team win tonight," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Our players have worked hard through a tough preseason that is paying off. Now we head into finals week and get ready to play at home again next weekend."
Northwest saw four players in double digits.
Maya DuChesne led the way with 13 points, followed by
Grace Harder with 12,
Kylie Lunday with 11, and
Katie Fleming with ten.Â
Northwest welcomes Oregon Tech next Friday at 5:30 p.m.
