KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles faced another top 20 team in the Southern Oregon University Raiders to close out the weekend. While NU battled, the Raiders came away with the lead, 51-67.
Northwest knew it had a tough matchup ahead as the Raiders came into the game ranked number 20 in the NAIA. The Eagles traded shots with SOU for the first quarter, which set them up for a successful game. The second quarter showed two equal teams battling. With 30 seconds left, Kyrin Baklund gave the Eagles a two-point lead going into the half.
The Eagles struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the third quarter, and the Raiders took advantage to take a 15-point lead. Northwest fought back in the fourth quarter but ran out of time to make a comeback.
"We played well in several areas this afternoon," said NU Head Coach Ken Crawford. "Again, we need to learn how to be more consistent and not repeat the same mistakes again and again. Christmas break is coming at a good time for us, and we are excited about getting back on the court after the holiday!"
Esther Pappuleas led the Eagles with 13 points, while Kylie Lunday brought in 10 rebounds.
The Eagles will play at PLU after the Christmas break on December 29.
