KIRKLAND, WA - Northwest faced another tough opponent in the Linfield Wildcats in its last non-conference game of the season. A back-and-forth game tipped in the favor of the Wildcats at the end, handing Northwest the loss, 64-60.
The Eagles started hot, scoring the first seven points of the game. From there, it was a tight contest for the rest of the evening. Northwest ended up going into halftime with a five-point lead. Linfield quickly came out of the half shooting well and cut down the Eagles' lead. Going into the fourth quarter, the Eagles held a one-point lead.
The final ten minutes proved a back-and-forth match with two teams both showing grit. Slowly, Linfield was able to pull away, and the Eagles could not make up the deficit.
Alli VanKooten landed 18 points, followed by
Maya DuChesne with 10.
"We are starting to sound like a broken record," said NU Head Coach
Ken Crawford. "Another tough loss tonight against a well-coached Linfield team. Our players and coaching staff are putting in the effort, but decisions and consistency down the line are missing. It's all league play from now on, and we are looking forward to seeing what is ahead."
Northwest heads down to Oregon to face Corban University on Friday, January 5.
