BELLINGHAM -
Kacey Koehn headlines a warm day in Bellingham for the Eagles as he hit a B-standard national qualifying distance at the Ralph Vernacchia meet on Saturday.
Â
Koehn finished third in the javelin while throwing for his personal best distance of 55.74 meters.Â
Â
Along with Koehn, Eagle throwers had a big day.
Nayel Bereket, Gabe Yonko,
Felicia Franco, and
Jenisha Green all posted season-best throws in multiple events.
Â
While the heat proved a challenge in the distance races, the women continued to post strong finishes in the sprint races.
Elizabeth Behnke took home a PR in the 100 meters with a time of 12.78.
Kayla Soderstrom ran the 100 meters in 13.36 for her own PR.Â
Â
Head Coach
Mark Mandi says, "A huge highlight came from
Kacey Koehn, who today finally hit the national qualifying mark after coming so very close two years ago as a freshman. It was a big day for our throwers as Nayel, Gabe, Felicia, and Jenisha also had their best throws of the year, if not ever. As we get close to wrapping up the regular season, I've loved seeing the effort and competitiveness that God has put on the hearts of our team."
Â
The Eagles will wrap up their regular season next weekend at the Linfield Open.Â
