BELLEVUE – Northwest broke last season's record for wins in a season and swept Bushnell with a pair of 4-3 wins on Friday.

The Eagles won their 17
th and 18
th games of the season, eclipsing last season's record of 16.
Natalie Dimitrov picked up the pitching win in the second game to tie Rachel Hawley's school record of nine wins in a season.

"I'm excited for the program but we need to keep going and set that bar higher," said NU Head Coach Pam Fink. "We've got some more wins to get. Our pitchers came back and pitched well today and we played good defense. When we do that, we give ourselves a chance to win."

NU broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning of the opener when
Madisyn Leffle stole home and ahead of a sacrifice fly by
Sydney Maurer to plate
Kayla Stanley.

Jamelah Lewis added a two-run home run in the fifth inning for a 4-0 lead.

Mandy Fetter had an RBI double to get Bushnell on the board in the sixth and the Beacons added two in the seventh on RBI singles by Hannah Tennant and Sam Silver. BU had the tying run at third base when
Bella King induced a comebacker to end the rally and the game.

King (7-8) went the distance for the Eagles, striking out three.

NU had eight hits, led by Leffle and Lewis with two each.

The Eagles broke out on top early in the second game, getting three runs in the first inning. Leffle walked and stole second and third before scoring on a single by Stanley. Lewis added an RBI single and
Cedella Ritchie came through with an RBI double.

NU went up 4-1 in the third with Leffle drawing a bases-loaded walk for the RBI.

The Beacons scored twice in the sixth on an RBI double by Krystal Agagi and an RBI single by Faith Wayman but stranded the tying run at third. Bushnell got the tying run in scoring position in the top of the seventh but Dimitrov worked out of the trouble with a fly ball to end the game.

Dimitrov allowed two earned runs in the complete game, striking out one in her record-tying win.

Coaching in her final season before retirement, Fink has overseen a program that has tied or beaten the school record for wins in three of her five seasons at Northwest.

Now 18-19 on the season, Northwest heads to No. 25 Eastern Oregon April 14-15.
