KIRKLAND – Northwest saw two Eagles placed on the Cascade Collegiate Conference softball All-Conference team while the entire squad was recognized with the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Sydney Maurer earned First-Team recognition while
Madisyn Leffle secured Second-Team honors.
"It's a tremendous honor for Sydney and Maddie to be recognized by the other coaches in the conference for their hard work this season," said Head Coach Pam Fink. "They both acknowledge this doesn't happen without their teammates. I am very proud of them both."
Maurer, a senior infielder, finished the season capturing the single-season records for batting average (.404), RBIs (64), hits (61), doubles (16), total bases (103), and relief appearances (14). She also tied the school record for home runs with eight on the year.
"It has been the most amazing thing to watch Sydney explode every offensive category this season. She was pivotal in getting us to our record-breaking season, and she left big shoes to fill for future Eagles," stated Coach Fink.
Leffle, a senior outfielder, finished the season with records for stolen bases in a single-game (5), single-season (51), and career (92). She also holds the single-season record for runs scored with 48, which also helped her break the school career record with 93 runs scored.
Coach Fink says, "Maddie has left her mark in the record books. Her toughness and grit make everyone around her better. She was instrumental in our success this season, and she is going to be missed wearing the Eagle uniform."
The Eagles also took home the Team Sportsmanship Award.
"It is special to be awarded the Team Sportsmanship award for the conference," says Coach Fink. "I am humbled the coaches chose to recognize our Eagle family. We always take the field as competitors but walk away respecting each other for the hard work each person gave to the teams. This is a great league. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to coach in the CCC these last five years."
