Eagles Fall Short, 1-0

SALEM, OR - This afternoon Northwest University women's soccer played NAIA Division II Taylor University from Upland, IN, and were defeated 1-0.

NU had a total of five shots on goal coming from Grace Burke (2), Montse Youngsman (2), and Elizabeth Moretti (1). Taylor was able to keep them from the scoreboard all 90 minutes.

The Trojans scored in the 63rd minute resulting in a 1-0 lead for the rest of the match. Taylor kept its offense attacking throughout but could only come up with one goal as RiaJo Schwartz had 10 saves for the Eagles.

Head Coach April VanAssche says, "Another opportunity for us today to sort out our play as a team. We definitely ironed out some different things in the second half, and we are very much looking forward to our next game to continue to build off of these last two games and hopefully start to find the net with some goals. The team worked hard, and they are continuing to come together on the field."

The Eagles play in Newberg, OR, tomorrow at 12:00 pm against George Fox.
