Eagles Blank George Fox: 2-0

KIRKLAND, WA - Northwest University men's soccer secures its third win of the preseason against George Fox. Both Northwest goals were scored in the last 15 minutes of the match.

The Eagles took a bit of time to get their offense warmed up, as they had a single shot on goal for the first half. Head Coach Gary McIntosh says, "The first half was tough for us today, as we struggled to connect passes and get on the same page. We did not play as a unit. Give credit to George Fox for making it hard on us, as they were organized."

McIntosh's halftime adjustments saw results within the first 10 minutes of the half, as NU had three shots to kickstart the Eagle offense.

Tyler Hopp scored the first goal of the game, and his second of the season, in the 74th minute. Jacen Stein had the assist.

NU's second goal of the game was scored by Brayden Corwin, assisted by Jacen Stein and Andre Santos. The Eagle defense kept George Fox to six shots on goal the entire match, three saves each by Alexander Thiehofe and Michael Kot.

Head Coach Gary McIntosh says, "At halftime we adjusted on how we were approaching the game tactically, and the guys did great executing. In the second half, we took control of the game, and then it was about finding the back of the net. We played well together as a unit, and that was the difference. It was great to get the shutout and see the guys play with resolve."

The men travel to Spokane on September 3, seeking their 4th preseason win over Whitworth.
