Five-Set Feud: 3-2

LEWISTON, ID - Northwest University women's volleyball clinches its first conference win against Lewis-Clark State tonight in a tough five-set feud, 25-19, 25-15, 16-25, 10-25, 16-14.

The Eagles came out strong, taking two sets off of the Warriors. NU jumped ahead in the first set with nine total kills as a team and three service aces from Allie Flynn. The Eagles continued to chip away in the second set, earning a 2-0 lead.

Lewis-Clark took advantage of NU's attacking errors and came out on top for the third set. The Eagles were stuck at seven points for nine rallies, forcing an NU timeout in set four, but the hole dug by NU was too deep to evade.

The fifth frame stayed within two points throughout the entirely of the set, each team taking the lead back and forth. The Eagles eventually took the five-set victory at 16-14.

Kaitlyn Mickle led the Eagles with 17 kills, a new career high.

Delaney Sparks made her presence known at the net with five total blocks followed by Kalli Budge with four.

Morgan Harter finished the night with 23 assists and 15 digs. Kelsey Moore had 36 digs.

"Credit goes to LCSC for fighting their way back into the match after being down 0-2," says Head Coach Steve Bain. "They made several adjustments that caught us flat footed, and the third and fourth sets were really a struggle. We made some changes ourselves though in the fifth set and our ladies stepped up for the second match in a row to make the plays when the match was on the line. The fact that we were able to open conference play with a road win is important as well and I know the challenges we faced tonight will make us a better team the next time we take the court."

Volleyball continues its road trip tomorrow in College Place, WA, against Walla Walla University.
