Women's Soccer Earns First Conference Win: 2-1

KIRKLAND, WA - April VanAssche earned her first conference win as head coach this afternoon in an Eagle victory over The Evergreen State College, 2-1.

Seconds before the end of a scoreless first half, Liv Lagerquist scored her first goal of the season on a penatly kick to put the Eagles on the board.

Grace Burke gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead with a goal assisted by Gracie VanAssche in the 60th minute. The Geoducks responded with a goal off their own penalty kick four minutes later, but the Eagles' control of the game kept TESC from drawing the match.

NU had 16 shots to the Geoducks' two. Eleven of those 16 were on target, including four shots on goal from VanAssche and three from Burke.

Head Coach April VanAssche says, "We are super excited for my team to get the win today. They played strong as a team, moving the ball around and getting shots off. I liked our energy and mentality as we focused on executing our game plan. They persevered through some challenges that were out of their control to keep the lead throughout the second half. Overall, we were happy with the win and are looking forward to building off this weekend."

The Eagles will continue their home game stretch next weekend, hosting Warner Pacific on September 29, followed by Multnomah on September 30.
