NU Wins in Overtime: 95-93

KIRKLAND, WA - In a tightly contested overtime match, the Eagles were able to hold off Warner Pacific as they got the victory, 95-93.

Northwest got off to a strong start in the first half by quickly getting out to a ten point lead. The Knights continued to press and did not let the Eagles pull away much further. While WPU continued to stay in the game, Northwest was able to maintain the lead for the remainder of the half. They went into halftime with an eight point cushion.

As the second half progressed, the Knights began to creep back in and pressured the Eagles to continue to score. With 2:35 left to play, WPU tied the game at 79. While the two teams battled to see who would get the edge, regulation ended with a tie.

Warner Pacific jumped first with a three-pointer to start overtime. While the teams traded points back and forth, Manuel Zapater sunk two crucial free throws with 22 seconds to go which gave the Eagles a three point lead. Lewis Pope sealed the game with a final free throw with eight seconds left.

"Super proud of our guys," said NU Head Coach Rick Skeen. "Not just for sticking with it and grinding out a win, but the way they have been practicing and sticking together. It was fun to see them get rewarded for that."
