NU Completes the Weekend Sweep: 94-92

KIRKLAND, WA - Northwest finished out the weekend with a clean sweep as the men took down a physical Multnomah Lions team, 94-92.

The Eagles started strong as they got out to an early lead in the first half. Despite the Lions continually making shots, Northwest was able to maintain the lead for the entire first half. This led to the Eagles having a four-point lead going into halftime.

Two quick threes by the Lions to open the second half put pressure on the Eagles to continue to score. The two teams continued to trade points back and forth as the Lions slowly began to expand their lead. With 9:17 left in the game, the Lions held an 11-point lead.

Northwest fought back and was able to tie the game with 3:32 left to play. With the two teams battling until the last minute, grad student Lewis Pope was able to sink two free throws with five seconds left to secure the victory.

"We struggled out of halftime and couldn't get our mojo going," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We had some good contributions from guys who played very little last night.  Miciah was huge on both ends of the floor, and Nash played big minutes. O'Shae closed out the game and again, our guys found ways to make the plays down the stretch."

Luke Howard brought home a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds on the night. Lewis Pope knocked down 23 points, with Nash Wobrock scoring 13 and Miciah Hagen scoring 10.

The Eagles are on the road to face the College of Idaho next Friday, January 19.
