KIRKLAND, WA - The Eagles faced a determined Multnomah team to end the weekend. Thanks to a dominant fourth quarter, Northwest was able to claim the victory, 80-68.
The Lions got out to a strong start in the first quarter that kept Northwest on its toes and led to the two teams being even after the first ten minutes. Multnomah continued to pressure Northwest and create opportunities to make shots. The Eagles were able to answer and led by three going into halftime.
In a high-scoring third quarter, the Lions went 9 for 14 shooting while the Eagles went 8 for 15. Both teams continued to find shots and neither was willing to let the other team pull away. With ten minutes to go, Northwest held on to a four-point lead.
Northwest was able to get out to a strong start in the fourth quarter and widened its lead to 16 with 4:22 left to go. The Lions continued to pressure Northwest, but the Eagles were able to close out the game and come away with the win.
"Very proud of the Lady Eagles tonight," said Head Coach Ken Crawford. "Good execution, better shooting, strong defense, and great teamwork gave us an indication of how good we really can be."
The Eagles saw four players reach double digits tonight. Kylie Lunday secured a double-double with 12 rebounds and led the team with 18 points. Katie Fleming followed close behind with 15. Alli VanKooten landed 14, and Kyrin Baklund scored 12.
The Eagles head east as they face College of Idaho on Friday, January 19.
