Kirkland, WA - Northwest men's soccer defeats Walla Walla 5-0 in second half spectacle.
Â
Walla Walla started the game aggressively, but NU kept its composure and kept the game on its terms. The first half also showed the Eagles' midfield disrupting Walla Walla and generating counterattacks by passing the ball up the field to a charging forward in waiting. NU took advantage of this all game long.Â
Â
The second half was when the Eagles began to reap what they were sowing. Matthew Ludlow scored the first goal in the 66th minute, and from there, the floodgates opened. Three players gathered multiple points in this match, including Michael Kozorezov with two goals, Elliot Misic with a goal and assist, and Andre Santos with two assists. Brayden Corwin got the game's final goal in the 88th minute.
Â
"It was good to get a win at home in front of our fans," said Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "The guys played hard the entire game and eventually were rewarded with some good goals. Matt Ludlow has been superb all season for us up top, and it was great to see him get the first goal, game winner, and to get the scoring going for us. It was nice to see Michael get two goals, as he works so hard and is deserving. The defense played well, and it was good to have a shutout. We'll enjoy today and then tomorrow get focused for Sunday's game."
