Portland, OR - Eagles defeat Lions in three sets, 25-16, 25-17, and 25-22.
The first set saw NU and Multnomah in a back-and-forth affair at the beginning until the Eagles began to pull away with the set in a 7-point stretch. Morgan Harter and Azaria Johnson led the charge to give the Eagles the first set.
The second set saw the Eagles take flight early and never looked back. NU developed a 6-point stretch with several attack errors on the Lions' side. Savannah Hale led the team in serving in this stretch that also saw her scoring an ace.
In the third set, NU went 3-0 to start, but the Lions began to swing back with a 7-point stretch of their own to bring the score nearly level, 22-20. The Eagles, though, were able to hold off Multnomah's offensive pressure to take the set and the win.
Aubree Dees dazzled the night with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Kaitlyn Mickle led the team in kills with 13. Allie Flynn led the team in digs with 14, and Ellie Van Berkum came away with 12 digs.
"Our ladies have been investing in their preparation at a high level, so it was nice to see them get a return on their investment in tonight's match," said Head Coach Steven Bain. "Multnomah is always tough to play in their gym, but for the most part, we were able to stay with our plan and control our side of the net. In doing so, that allowed us to make plays at critical moments to close out the match."
