PORTLAND, OR - Northwest finished its time in Oregon with a 3-1 victory over Warner Pacific University.
The Eagles kept up their momentum from the previous night as they started strong against the Knights. Northwest was able to grab the lead and keep it to take the first set, 25-21. The second set proved the same as NU quickly took a 2-0 lead on the evening.
The Knights were determined to fight as they started the third set strong and caught the Eagles off guard. Warner Pacific then was able to force a fourth set. As the fourth set began, it was a back-and-forth battle between teams. The Eagles began to pull away in the middle and maintain a small lead that propelled them to victory, 25-19.
"First, we have to give credit to Warner Pacific for a hard-fought match," said Head Coach Steve Bain. "They were well-prepared and relentless on defense, which challenged our patience and ability to play clean. With the exception of the third set, we were able to maintain our composure, and our ladies did a terrific job applying service pressure, which kept them out of system and allowed us to score points when the sets were on the line. The team is now looking forward to getting back to work as we prepare for this week's opponents."
Aubree Dees led the Eagles with 18 kills and 17 digs on the night. Morgan Harter gathered 45 assists.
