Eagles Get Lucky Bounce in Gutsy Win

Kirkland, WA  - Northwest women's soccer team takes a sturdy win over Rocky Mountain College, 1-0.

The Battlin' Bears' offense came out playing aggressively and fast right from the jump, putting NU's defense in desperate situations. However, the Eagles answered the bell and proved stalwart in stopping the Bears' attacks all game long.

The Eagles would get a very lucky break in the 20th minute from a cross into the attacking 18-yard box that ended up becoming an own goal and the game's only goal. The Bears responded by continuing to jam the ball up the field, but the Eagles held on to win the gutsy game

Defenders Alivia Berry and Anais Stephany proved their might by closing off crosses and matching Rocky Mountain's strength and speed, helping Katie Snow record a shutout against Rocky Mountain's 12 shots on goal. McKenna Ramoso created a bunch of chances for NU's offense to prevail, including being a key contributor to the own goal.

"We are very proud of the team today for gritting it out for 90 minutes to get the win," said Head Coach April VanAssche. "This was a great win for us going into the end of regular season play. We played strong on both sides of the ball. It was a great defensive performance by everyone to get the shutout as well."
