Eagles Drop Season Opener Against Orediggers

Butte, MT - The Northwest men's basketball team started its season against Montana Tech in the Best Western Tip-Off Classic but fell short, 78-57. 

The Eagles struggled offensively, only able to convert seven out of 30 field goals in the first half. On the other side, the Orediggers converted 50% of their field goals in the first half, taking a massive 41-22 lead at the end of the first half. 

The Eagles' offense in the second half fared better than the first, going 13 for 32 and converting 44% of their three-pointers. The Eagles' defense also proved more stout, limiting the Orediggers to only two, three-pointers out of nine, but the first half proved to be insurmountable as the Eagles could not keep up with their opponent

None of the Eagles' players were able to break through 10 points on the night. Filip Mugosa and Manuel Zapater both led the team with eight points, and Ethan Martin trailed not far behind with seven points.
