Salem, OR - The Northwest women's basketball team started its season in the Corban Classic against Arizona Christian but could not keep up as the Firestorm broke through, 80-51. 

The first quarter for the Eagles started promising, being able to keep pace with the Firestorm by shooting for 31% and making three of their four free throws, but the Firestorm were more clinical. Accumulating 26 points and shooting 12 for 20, the Firestorm were able to take the lead, and they would stay in the lead for the rest of the game. 

The Eagles struggled mightily in the second quarter, shooting 3 for 20 and only scoring eight points. The Firestorm, meanwhile, were able to tack on 23 points and shoot at 50%, putting more distance on the Eagles as they led at the half, 47-22. 

The Eagles were able to outscore the Firestorm in the third quarter, 17-15, and shoot at 35%, but the fourth quarter proved too much for the Eagles to handle. The Firestorm were able to convert 42% of their shots in the fourth, which was enough to profoundly defeat the Eagles. 

Ellie De Waard led the team in points with a total of 13 points, while Faith Dumlao followed behind her with 12 points.
