Kirkland, WA - The Northwest men's basketball team takes a close defeat to Multnomah, 78-70, after staging a second half comeback.
The Eagles came back home from a long road trip that ended in a win against Carroll College, while the Lions' last game was on Dec. 7 against Corban where the Lions lost 72-60. The first half belonged to the Lions, going 14-29, 3-12 in threes, and 13-16 in free throws. The Eagles struggled shooting 9-25 and 3-11 outside the three-point line.
The Eagles clawed their way back into the thick of the scrum, outscoring the Lions 40-34 and limiting them to 10-29 on shots and only 1-10 in threes. The Eagles looked poised to secure a comeback, going 16-40 and 5-17 in threes. However, key mistakes in Eagles' turnovers in the second half sealed the win for the Lions.
Devin Wade-Henderson and Trent Williams both led the team with 11 points on the night, while Tay Aubry-Thomas followed behind with 10 points.
"Credit to Multnomah, they really guarded us and took us out of our stuff." said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "Our top three keys were taking care of the ball, shooting a higher percentage, and rebounding. We went 0/3 on our keys, and that will lead to a loss."
