LA GRANDE, OR - Northwest started a tough weekend facing No. 2-ranked Eastern Oregon University. After a slow start in set one, the Eagles ended up falling to the Mountaineers in three straight sets.
EOU came out swinging and quickly attacked the Eagles to take the first set easily. NU was able to find some rhythm to compete in the second and third set. However, Eastern Oregon proved its ranking and shut down NU's offense.Â
"We had a rough start against a really good team and were never really able to get over the hump offensively," said Head Coach Steve Bain. "Their net defense was terrific, and our inability to slow down their offense was the story of the match. Still, we did fight back and the belief in our process is still there. We are getting better at doing the things we say we believe in."
Reece Denney led the Eagles with nine kills. Morgan Harter counted 14 assists for the match.
