Kirkland, WA - The Northwest men's basketball team had a strong second half, but ultimately fell short against the College of Idaho 86-64.
Â
The Eagles' down spiral continued with a four game losing streak and it wasn't going to get easier. The Yotes came in with a conference best 6-1 and an 11-2 overall record, putting them in the elite category in the NAIA.
Â
The Yotes came out of the woodwork in cruise control and took over the game, giving no room for the Eagles to maneuver. The Yotes shot for 50% in the first half whereas the Eagles only mustered 28.6%. The Yotes ended up with a 19-point lead going into the second.Â
Â
There was a lot of resolve within the Eagles as the game approached the second half, able to keep the game close within 10 points within the first ten minutes of the second half, but the Yotes dug deep and were able to take back control of the game.Â
Â
Nash Wobrock led the team in points with 15 points while Filip Mugosa had a good game by putting up 11 points.Â
Â
"Our guys gave a tremendous effort tonight against one of the best teams in the country," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "I thought we showed a different level of toughness and resilience tonight. We took better care of the ball but are still struggling to make shots. We will keep fighting."
