Kirkland, WA - The Northwest women's basketball team fell flat in the second quarter, allowing the College of Idaho to route the home team, 74-55.
The Eagles came home for the first time of 2025 and looked to break away from a budding three-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Yotes came in with an unprecedented five-game win streak after starting their season 2-5.
It would prove to be a tumultuous bout for the Eagles, but it showed promise. The first quarter was explosive for both offenses as each were able to shoot for 50% or more. While the Eagles were clinical beyond the three point line, shooting for 60%, the Yotes managed to pull away with the lead, 24-19.
The second quarter was one the Eagles would like to forget. Stifled at every corner, the Eagles were only able to put up one three pointer in the dying seconds of the quarter. The Yotes' 12 rebounds in the second showed out, and they were able to launch their offense to 21 points in the quarter, putting the game away entirely.
Hoping to bring themselves back into the game, the Eagles made a splash with 33 points in the final two quarters. However, the Yotes effortlessly managed a consistent output of offense, shooting for 46.7% in the third and 38.9% in the fourth.
Kimberly Carrada Sanchez continues to be a leader for the Eagles in the points category, drilling 16 points, with Saydee Anderson not far behind with 14 points. College of Idaho's Ashton Adamson managed to squeak out a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
"The second quarter obviously did us in there," said Head Coach Randall Edens. "Otherwise, the second half was a little more indicative of what we were capable of on a consistent basis, and I know we had got it down to 12 or so late third. But having 3 or 4 baskets in the second quarter and not bowing up defensively set us back too much to overcome there in the 2nd half."
