Eagles Fall To A Clinical Warriors Offense

Salem, OR - The Northwest men's basketball team fall to Corban University by a deceiving score of 86-69.

After suffering a tight, ten-point defeat to the Beacons on Friday, the Eagles traveled north to Salem to meet the Warriors who have had a successful season. The Warriors went into this matchup with an 8-3 conference record and a win against the Geoducks on Friday.

The Warriors went on a tear towards the halfway point of the first half, leaving the Eagles in the dust. It did not help that the Eagles gave the Warriors a lot to work with on the free throw line, allowing the Warriors to shoot for 11-13 (84.6%) in the first half. Key three-point misses undid the Eagles as well as they only shot for 30%.

The Eagles rebounded and kept the game uncomfortable for the Warriors throughout the first ten minutes of the second half with Ethan Martin coming up with key plays. However, the Warriors were able to pull ahead by shooting half of their threes and shooting for 54.5% of all their shots in the second half. While the Eagles put on a show where the score didn't tell the whole story, it was the Warriors conversion that dictated the course of the game's fate.

Martin and Trent Williams both shined on the offensive front, each scoring 19 points while Nash Wobrock contributed with seven rebounds.

"Ethan and Trent had really solid nights on the defensive end," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We were right there until the 8:00 minute mark and 5 threes in a row ended our night. Guys are battling. We were better on turnovers and rebounding. Still need to make more shots and defend better. Still, our guys are fighting."
