KIRKLAND, Wash. - The Eagles faced a determined Walla Walla squad who was able to just edge out the Eagles, 2-1.
Northwest started out by honoring five graduating athletes as part of senior day.
Max Kozorezov,
Ryan Anderson, Joao Fonseca,
Trevor VanAssche, and Ngazikue Kandetu were all celebrated before the start of the game.
It was a physical game between both squads when the yellow card came out in the first 90 seconds to Walla Walla's Joaquin Calvo. The remainder of the first half would be a back and forth affair as neither team could find the back of the net.
As the second half got under way, both teams were trying to find a goal. Walla Walla finally broke away in the 70th minute and took the lead off a goal by Juan Lobos. Seven minutes later, they extended their lead as Javier Stambullian also scored.
The Eagles kept fighting and searching for that goal. In the 88th minute,
Matthew Ludlow was able to get one for NU to cut the lead to one. But, the clock cut the Eagles's comeback short and left NU down by one to end the game.
Bailey Hopkins stayed in goal for the game for the Eagles and tallied four saves on the day.
Northwest will be back in action on their home field on Saturday against Evergreen State College.
