Eagles Shutout Argos With Two Second-Half Goals

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Northwest University women's soccer team returned to their winning ways and shut out the University of Providence 3-0.

The Eagles have been on a frustrating three-game streak of draws against Carroll College, Rocky Mountain and Southern Oregon. The Argos on the other hand have won their past three games with their latest win coming against Warner Pacific on Sunday.

Gracie VanAssche broke through early on with a goal in the 14th minute with some help from Kimberly Yarnell. The Eagles' offensive pressure continued to dominate in the first half with 10 shots on target. Despite the onslaught, Argos goalkeeper Jennifer Alvillar stood strong with nine saves in the half.

Both Katie Snow and Ali Tiechner shared minutes in goal for the Eagles as the away squad's offense continued to pressure. Talia Hurst bagged two goals in the second half with the first coming in at the 58th minute and the 64th minute. Both goals were assisted by VanAssche.

"Very excited to get a win today on the road," said Head Coach April VanAssche. "The team played strong in our attack and defended well today! Very excited to build off of this win!"

The Eagles will hit the road once again for a match up against Corban on Friday, October 10th at 4:30 PM.
