SNOHOMISH, Wash. - The Eagles fell victim to a late-goal loss after a valiant defensive effort against the No. 7 Yotes.
The match was a defensive masterclass for the Northwest side for nearly the entire 90 minutes. Goalkeeper
Katie Snow delivered a spectacular performance, recording 17 saves against a relentless College of Idaho offense. Snow was put under intense pressure throughout the game, as the Yotes registered 18 shots on goal, but she consistently kept the Eagles in the contest.
The Yotes finally broke the deadlock in the final minutes. College of Idaho's Eden Makaafi found the back of the net at the 85:46 mark, with the assist credited to Natasja Davis, securing the decisive 1-0 victory for the visitors.
"A big performance by the whole team today led to some great soccer and gritty played by everyone," said NU Head Coach
April VanAssche. "Â Such a strong, disciplined stand by our defense and some aggressive attack. Unfortunately, we just came up short at the end. Â Very proud of how everyone played today and excited about how we will head into the conference tournament next week!"
Despite the loss, the Northwest defense, anchored by Snow, showed tremendous grit against a top-ranked opponent. The Eagles finish the regular season ranked 6th in the CCC. They will head to Medford, Ore. to compete in the Conference Championships starting Saturday, November 8th.Â
