The NU men's basketball team fell 97–81 to Eastern Oregon after a slow start put the Eagles in an early deficit. Eastern opened the game with a 15–0 run, capitalizing on early turnovers and second-chance opportunities before NU was able to settle into the game.
Once the Eagles found their rhythm, they began to chip away at the lead and made several strong runs to keep the game competitive. Despite NU's efforts, Eastern controlled the paint and dominated the glass, using its size and physicality to maintain momentum. The Mountaineers continued to convert on the offensive end and carried a 46–29 advantage into halftime.
In the second half, Northwest showed resilience, pushing the pace and attacking offensively in an attempt to close the gap. NU was able to string together stops and baskets to keep the score within reach, but Eastern answered each run with timely shots. The Mountaineers' rebounding and consistent scoring proved to be the difference as NU's comeback attempt fell short, resulting in a 97–81 final.
Logan Stempniak led the Eagles with 16 points and six rebounds, providing a strong presence inside. CJ Bayak followed with 14 points and six rebounds, while NU received additional contributions throughout the lineup as they continued to battle until the final buzzer.
Coach Skeen said this about the game "Credit to Oregon. They played way harder, tougher, and more connected than we did tonight. We must learn how to continue to play hard when our shots aren't falling."
