Eagles Defeated On Senior Day

KIRKLAND, WA - The Northwest men's basketball team had their Senior Day spoiled by Corban as they fell 88-72.

The Eagles honored five seniors as they play for the blue and gold for the final time in their college careers this season: Matt Amano, Shane McGaughey-Fick, Caleb Whalen, Dominic Wilson and Nash Wobrock. The Eagles came off a high-flying but disappointing loss to Multnomah last Saturday. The Warriors meanwhile were facing a darker path, coming into tonight on the back of a five-game losing streak.

It was a game decided in the first half as the Warriors went on a rampage offensively as they shot for 63.3%, netted half of their threes and collected 13 rebounds. The Eagles were sluggish coming out of the gate, shooting for 44% and only netting a quarter of their threes.

While the second half fared better for the Eagles as they scored 41 points and shot for half, it was not enough as the Warriors simply outclassed the home team in nearly every category. Against the team on the ropes, the Eagles could not keep up with the Warrior's madness.

Despite the loss, Nash Wobrock bedazzled on his big day, splashing 21 points on the night while Manuel Zapater came up behind him with 14 points.

"Disappointing night,"  said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "We didn't play with the force and energy we have been playing with. Was hoping senior night would give us a boost but we didn't have our best game. Hoping we have a better effort and performance tomorrow."
