Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Keegan Culp

Eagles Falter Under Incredible Solo Performance

KIRKLAND, WA - The Northwest men's basketball team crumble in their final home game of the season against Bushnell, 96-77.

It was a disappointing Saturday for the Eagles as they were soundly defeated against Corban and were wanting a change of pace. The Beacons were coming off a massive road win against the Geoducks on Saturday to get themselves out of a small rut.

The Beacons took control of the game very early on by jumping ahead 6-0 while never giving up the lead. Beacon forward Corey Johnson took the helm as commander with an otherworldly performance, splashing 36 total points on the Eagles while also collecting 18 rebounds. The Eagles simply had zero answers for Johnson and the rest of the dominant Beacons squad.

While the Eagles had a good time on the free-throw line with 66.7%, the Eagles couldn't convert anywhere else. They were only able to muster 32.8% of total shots and 28.1% of their threes. The Beacons, meanwhile, had an easier time with 48.4% of total shots and 52.6% of three made. It was a game lost in the first few minutes, and the Eagles had no escape.

Manuel Crujeiras led the team in points tonight with 14, while Nash Wobrock came up right behind him with 12 points.

"We got off to a rough start on both ends of the floor tonight and dug ourselves a hole we couldn't get out of," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "I thought our guys gave a much better effort in the second half, but we needed a better start."
