Eagles Win Senior Day With Crazy Comeback

KIRKLAND, WA - The Northwest women's basketball team honored its seniors in style with an amazing come-from-behind win against Corban, 86-83.

The Eagles celebrated Saydee Anderson and Beatrice Simon tonight for senior day as they took the court for the final time in their college careers this season. It was also a time for the Eagles to refocus as they came off a disappointing loss to Multnomah last Saturday, while the Warriors entered tonight on a three-game losing streak.

The game started even at first with each team trading leads and points, but the Warriors were able to put on a clinic to launch themselves into the lead for a majority of the game. Tallying 41 total rebounds and shooting 58.3% of their total threes, the Warriors went on a tear in the second and third quarter to put themselves up by 19 by the fourth.

Despite the deficit, the Eagles' steal game was magnificent. With a total of 26 steals, ten of them coming from the seniors, the Eagles' resolve was unquestioned, and it kept them within striking distance. As the fourth quarter unfolded, the Eagles stormed back to cut the deficit and take the lead with 33.4 seconds left. With a couple free throws to end the game, the Eagles snatched the win to send the Kristi Brodin Pavilion into a frenzy.

Kaleah Medeiros sparkled with 21 points on the night, while Kimberly Carrada Sanchez followed up with 19 points. Corban's Madison Hodnett was just able to squeak out a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

"So excited to be able to celebrate senior day with a victory such as that," said Head Coach Randall Edens. "We really fought well, and our group earlier this season wouldn't have believed they could make a run like we did there down the stretch today. Down 19 with 7:40 something to go, and I think perhaps 13-14 with under four minutes to go . . . really impressed with the resolve our group showed. I thought our two seniors were magnificent in their own ways tonight in Bea Simon and Saydee Anderson, and I felt we were very opportunistic when we needed to be. Very proud of each of our young ladies tonight and a big win."
