Eagles Consistent Offense Seizes Win

Kirkland, WA - The Northwest men's basketball team unloaded their offensive prowess against Evergreen State as they took the win, 96-81.

The Eagles' hard efforts are now being harvested with having won an upset over Oregon Tech on Saturday. The Geoducks were the next opponent on the docket who are ranked dead last in the conference with only one win on the season, which came against the Eagles back in December.

The Eagles played a complete and clean game, shooting for 46.1% the whole contest and minimizing mistakes and fouls. In addition to the consistent offense, the Eagles displayed a strong defensive showing in the first half, limiting the Geoducks to 29 points and 33.3% in shooting.

The Geoducks did not make things easy for the home squad in the second half. Nailing 52 points and shooting for 58.3% allowed for the Geoducks to stay in the game. The Eagles' offense was up for the task, though. Equalling the road team's point tally, the Eagles splashed 52 points as well and shot for 48.5%. The Eagles were also busy on their free throw line in the second. In 20 attempts, the Eagles managed to drill 18 of them, which allowed for the Eagles to nab their second straight win.

Manuel Zapater had a monstrous double-double performance as he tallied 20 points with 12 rebounds, while Nash Wobrock followed right behind with an 18-point game.

"Our guys really locked in and played well for 30 minutes," said Head Coach Rick Skeen. "Credit to Evergreen for really putting pressure on us defensively in the last ten minutes, as we struggled to stop them. The ball started sticking for the last ten minutes, but our guys found a way to get an important win. Excited to see them continue to grow as men and as a team."
