Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Keegan Culp

Eagles Come Up Short Against Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Northwest University women's soccer team fell shy of the mark, losing 2-1 against Oregon Tech on the road.

The Eagles enter their first conference game on a three-game winning streak with their last game ending in a 3-2 win against Lewis & Clark College on September 6th. Meanwhile, the Owls had a 2-0 win against Simpson on Monday and entered today with only one loss on the season.

It was a relatively quiet first half with only eight shots registered for both teams; three of them coming from the Eagles and five for the Owls. Katie Snow was challenged twice in the first half but would not be deterred.

Megan Hurley would open the scoring in the second half with a 53rd minute goal, but Chloe Cook of the Owls followed up with a goal of her own six minutes later with help from Jaylee Curran. The Owls would get the game winning goal off of Clair Cowen in the 76th minute with an assist from Sydney Soskis. Snow was tested in between the sticks in the second half, but she managed to save five shots, bringing her total to seven on the day.

"Not the way we wanted to start our conference play," said Head Coach April VanAssche. "However, we had some great moments of good soccer that we will build off of for Sunday's game."

The Eagles will travel west to Ashland for a matchup against Southern Oregon on Sunday at 10:00 AM.
