ASHLAND, Ore. - The Northwest University women's soccer team were held to a draw against Southern Oregon University after a late-game goal 1-1.
The Eagles last game against Oregon Tech on Friday ended in a 2-1 defeat and were looking for a rebound. The Raiders were next on the docket after coming off a 3-1 win against Evergreen on Friday.
The Eagles jumped right onto the lead thanks to Hailey Deese, her second of the season, six minutes into the contest. Gracie VanAssche was there to provide the assist. It was a game of offense with the first half providing 11 total shots, six belonging to the Eagles and five for the Raiders.
The offense continued into the second half as the Raiders amped up the pressure with 10 total shots on the Eagles defense. The home squad would finally break through in the 83rd minute as Kaylah Breese tallied the equalizer with a penalty kick. Katie Snow had an excellent game, stopping six shots.
"Today was a well fought match by both teams," said Head Coach April VanAssche. "I was proud of my girls for getting on the board first with a great team goal. My Eagles did a great job defending today as a team, and we are looking forward to the rest of the season!"
The Eagles will come back home on Friday, September 26th at 12:30 PM to face Rocky Mountain College.
