Eagles Lose to Undefeated Southern Oregon

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Northwest University men's soccer team fell to Southern Oregon University 3-1 in a foul-fueled contest.

The Eagles had a rough outing against Oregon Tech on Friday, losing 4-1 and aimed to turn the ship around. They would have to go through the Raiders, who come into this game undefeated and fresh off a 4-1 win over Evergreen.

The Raiders bagged the first goal of the game five minutes into the game off the back of Johnathan Colunga and an assist from Daniel Palomino. The Eagles would get the equalizer off the foot of Logan Anderson with help from Max Kozorezov in the 38th minute.

Both squads were booked nine times throughout the match, four yellows for the Eagles and five for the Raiders, including a red card against Irwin Leon, who scored his seventh goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Harry Cullen of the Raiders would grab a goal in the 55th minute to put the game out of reach. Bailey Hopkins came down with two saves in the match.

"We want to win every game we play but that is not always possible," said Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "The guys did a great job executing the game plan and we had several quality chances to score. Southern is a very good team and against a team like them when you get a chance to score, you've got to put them away. Time now to reflect on the past two games to learn from them and start preparing for our first home conference games."

The Eagles will have their first home game of the regular season on Friday, September 26th at 3:00 PM against Rocky Mountain College.
