KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest University men's basketball team delivered an efficient offensive performance Friday night, earning a 91–88 Cascade Conference victory over Bushnell University.
Northwest shot 52.5 percent from the field and held a narrow 52–49 advantage at halftime before maintaining control in the second half. The Eagles matched Bushnell point-for-point after the break, but secured the home win regardless.
A balanced scoring effort powered the Eagles, led by three players in double figures. Lucius Fox paced Northwest with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting while adding six made free throws. Christian Watkins followed with 18 points to go along with a team-high seven assists and four steals, and Andrew Iyamah added 17 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting night, converting all six of his free throw attempts.
Trent Williams provided a strong scoring spark off the bench with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Logan Stempniak controlled the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds. Iyamah contributed defensively as well, finishing with five rebounds and a block.
Following the win, Head Coach Rick Skeen praised the team's collective effort and composure down the stretch. "Big win for our guys tonight," Skeen said. "Excited for them to get over the hump in a close game. Lots of contributions from lots of guys tonight. A couple that may not show up in the stat line is Cam Downie and Shane McGaughey-Fick. Their minutes were huge for us."
With the win, Northwest continues conference play tomorrow, looking to build on its offensive rhythm and home-court momentum against Corban.
