Eagles Keep It Close but Fall at Bushnell

EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest University women's basketball went toe-to-toe with Bushnell for much of the afternoon, but a strong fourth quarter by the Beacons led to a 67–57 Cascade Collegiate Conference setback Saturday at the Morse Center.

The Eagles (4-10, 0-6 CCC) set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–14 lead after the first quarter behind solid perimeter shooting and active defense. Bushnell responded in the second period, holding Northwest without a field goal for several minutes to edge ahead 31–29 at halftime.

The teams traded momentum in a tightly contested third quarter, with Northwest staying within one possession and trailing just 46–45 heading into the final ten minutes. In the fourth, Bushnell capitalized on second-chance opportunities to create separation, outscoring the Eagles 21–12 down the stretch.

Northwest was led by guard Jersey McGehee, who connected on four three-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points. Forward Ellie Bost provided a strong interior presence, scoring 11 points and grabbing a team-best six rebounds before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Despite the result, the Eagles showed competitiveness throughout the contest and remained within striking distance into the final quarter. Northwest will look to build on its early-quarter execution and carry that effort forward as CCC play continues.
