CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest University women's basketball dropped a road contest at College of Idaho on Thursday evening, falling 76–53 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup played amid a celebratory atmosphere at Elgin Baylor Arena.
The Eagles trailed by a narrow margin after the opening quarter but were unable to keep pace offensively as the Coyotes extended their lead through the middle quarters. College of Idaho established control early and maintained momentum throughout the night, using consistent pressure on both ends to build separation as the game progressed.
Taimane Faleafine-Auwae led Northwest with 14 points and seven rebounds, shooting 5-of-8 from the field while adding four offensive boards. Ellie Bost followed with 12 points, connecting on four three-pointers and adding two assists. Jersey McGehee rounded out the top scorers with nine points and seven rebounds, shooting 4-of-6 from the floor.
College of Idaho found success inside and capitalized on turnovers, controlling the paint and turning second-half execution into extended scoring runs. Northwest continued to battle on the glass, finishing with 40 total rebounds and creating extra possessions with 12 offensive boards.
Northwest shot 33.9 percent from the field as the Coyotes pulled away late, holding their largest lead in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles (7-16, 3-12 CCC) will continue their road trip tomorrow with a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Ore. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
