KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University volleyball fell to Bushnell University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Kristi Brodin Pavilion. The Eagles dropped the three sets 25-18, 25-14 and 25-12.
Northwest opened the match with 11 kills in the first set, including three from Chloe Kennedy and two from Teagan Schroeder. The Eagles battled back late in the set, putting together a run to cut the deficit to 24-18 before Bushnell closed out the frame, 25-18.
The Eagles recorded 10 kills in the second set, with Jaelyn Moeva leading the way with four. Kennedy and Schroeder each added two kills as Northwest continued to compete against the Beacons.
Northwest finished the third set with six kills. Moeva recorded three kills in the frame, while Kennedy and Madelyn Galstad each added an ace.
Kennedy led the Eagles with eight kills on 14 attacks, hitting .500 on the afternoon. Moeva finished with nine kills, while Schroeder added five. Katelyn Bogetti recorded 19 assists and two aces, and Haylee Koetje led Northwest with six digs.
"Tonight was a frustrating match for the Eagles, not because of the outcome but because we struggled to do the little things that we claim to believe in," said head coach Steven Bain. "Not taking anything away though from Bushnell, who controlled the match from start to finish and reminded us of how far we have to go to be competitive in the Cascade Conference."
Bushnell was led by Taya Blankenship with 10 kills, while Amyah Semau added seven kills and four total blocks.
Northwest will return to action on Friday, Sept. 18, at noon against Walla Walla University in College Place, Wash.
