Knights Hold Eagles Scoreless for First CCC Win

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific College held the NU Eagles scoreless for 90 minutes as they earned their first Cascade Conference win, 2-0, tonight on the David Douglas High School field. Warner Pacific improves to 1-5 in the CCC and 2-7 on the season and drops Northwest to 4-1-1 in the CCC and 8-6-1 overall. There is now a three way tie for second place between Northwest U., Corban and Southern Oregon who all have 4-1-1 records and 13 points for the year.

Trisha Durham scored both of the Knight's goals as she took a through ball in the 28th minute of the first half to score from the left side. Durham then scored the game clincher at the 62:24 mark as she dribbled past NU goalkeeper, Patty Hughes, for the score.

The Eagles pressed hard in the second half. Shea Samuelsen sent a free kick towards the goal in the 73rd minute but her shot was punched away b the WPC goalkeeper. Acacia Johnson's shot in the 80th minute was also turned away.

Northwest held an 11-6 edge on the shots, but failed to convert on opportunities. Acacia Johnson led NU with 5 shots, 3 on goal but couldn't put one past WPC goalie, Allie Holterman who had 6 saves for the night. Patty Hughes had one save in goal for the Eagles.

"Rough game for our ladies as Warner Pacific came out strong in the first half and we just weren't ready," commented NU coach Val Seid. "We came out and dominated in the second half, outshot them, but their keeper had a fantastic game."

NU faces one of their toughest tasks of the season when they return to Portland on Saturday to take on No. 1 ranked Concordia who sits atop the conference with a 6-0 record and a 12-1-1 season mark.
