NU Women Fall to No. 1 Concordia

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - No. 1-ranked Concordia earned its ninth straight win with a  2-0 victory over defending the NU Eagles at Tuominen Yard on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Concordia (13-1-1, 7-0-0 CCC) clinched a first-round bye in the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament. NU is now in a tie for third place in the CCC, falling to 8-7-1 on the year and 4-2-1 in CCC play.

Concordia took the lead in the 12th minute of as Hannah Scott scored from 18 yards out into the upper corner of the net.

The score would remain 1-0 until the end of the half. The Eagles had a pair of opportunities to tie the match before halftime, but were turned away. Tatyana Reveles took a long-ranged attempt with seven minutes remaining which sailed right of the post while a free kick by Shea Samuelsen with less than three minutes remaining ricocheted off the CU wall to setup up an attempt by Annie-Bryn Stauffer.

Stauffer one-timed a shot from 24 yards which CU goalkeeper Olivia Brock managed to get a hand on the ball to deflect it away from the goal as it bounced off the right crossbar and was cleared by the CU defense.

Ashley Ames scored the clincher for Concordia in the 62nd minute of play with a header off a corner kick by Hannah Kimsey .

Concordia outshot NU 25-6 with Patty Hughes finishing with 5 saves in goal for the Eagles.  NU did not have a corner kick on the day with CU taking 10 from the corner. Olivia Brock earned the shutout for the Cavaliers in goal with two saves.

The Eagles will return home to play Oregon Tech on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 3:00 p.m.
